Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has revealed the harsh treatment he endured from some artists while trying to establish himself in the mainstream music industry.
In a post on his social media platforms, Shallipopi claimed that several artists spat on him and constantly ridiculed him, experiences he says contributed to his tough demeanor.
“2023/2024 many artists pour me spit for face…. I mean manyyyyyy, that’s why I’m extra mean, ogun go kill of una one by one as time dey go,” he wrote, expressing frustration at the lack of respect he faced early in his career.
Although he did not name the individuals involved, Shallipopi warned that those who scorned him would eventually face the consequences of their actions.
Shallipopi’s revelation highlights the challenges emerging artists often face in Nigeria’s competitive music industry, where respect and recognition can be hard-earned.
