Nigerian football icon, Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha, has reunited with his former national team coach, Clemens Westerhof, in Lagos.
Westerhof, who shared photos of the visit on Instagram, described the meeting as an unforgettable moment.
“Unforgettable night of my life in Lagos, Nigeria, with my boy Jay-Jay Okocha. Thank you for hosting me and my wife Lilian. It was a pleasure to reconnect and share the good old days,” he wrote.
The Dutchman managed the Super Eagles from 1989 to 1994, leading the team to its second Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in 1994 and Nigeria’s first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance the same year.
It was under Westerhof’s watch that Okocha made his debut for the Super Eagles, beginning a career that would later establish him as one of the greatest players in Nigeria’s football history.
