Paystack has suspended its co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, after he was accused of sexual misconduct involving a subordinate.

The company, owned by Stripe, said it has launched a formal investigation into the allegation.

The situation drew more attention after old tweets from Olubi, dating back 10–15 years, resurfaced. Some contained sexually explicit comments about colleagues and references to minors.

“Paystack is aware of the allegations involving our Co-founder, Ezra Olubi,” the company told TechCabal. “We take matters of this nature extremely seriously. Effective immediately, Ezra has been suspended from all duties and responsibilities pending the outcome of a formal investigation.”

The company added that it would not share further details until the investigation is complete, to protect the parties involved and ensure a fair process.

The tweets, from 2009 to 2013, included comments about photographing a colleague’s thighs and inappropriate jokes about touching coworkers. One widely shared tweet from 2011 said: “Monday will be more fun with an ‘a’ in it. Touch a coworker today. Inappropriately.”

After the posts went viral, Olubi deactivated his X (formerly Twitter) account.
