Nollywood actress and award-winning filmmaker Omoni Oboli has praised Nigerian filmmakers for their dedication and resilience despite the many hurdles in film production.
In a post on her Instagram page, Oboli highlighted the hard work, sleepless nights, and financial challenges filmmakers face, emphasizing that their passion and perseverance are what keep Nollywood moving forward.
“To every filmmaker still creating in Nollywood right now, take a bow. The sleepless nights, the budgets that don’t stretch, the risks no one talks about, the faith it takes to keep going. Cinema, streaming, YouTube, wherever your film lives, it counts. It matters. Because it takes more than talent, it takes resilience, belief, and heart. And that is what Nollywood is built on,” she wrote.
Oboli added that different platforms may offer different paths, but the purpose and passion behind filmmaking remain the same. “If you’re still making films in Nollywood in this economy… you’re doing something powerful. I see you. I celebrate you,” she concluded.
Her message comes as Nollywood continues to thrive despite economic pressures and the challenges of competing in the global entertainment space.
