Veteran Nigerian actor Abiodun Ayoyinka, famously known for his role as Papa Ajasco, has announced a major rebranding, adopting a new stage name: Bondu Alaska.
In a video shared on Instagram, Abiodun Ayoyinka introduced himself to fans under his new identity, saying:
“Good morning Nigerians. My name is Bondu Alaska. The one and only Bondu Alaska.”
The move comes after the actor revealed he had been facing financial struggles and reportedly disagreed with Wale Adenuga, owner of the Papa Ajasco brand, over the use of the iconic name.
He also thanked Nigerians for their support over the years and promised to start a new chapter in his career, pledging not to disappoint fans. His Instagram handle has now been updated to reflect the new stage name, and he encouraged fans and brands to reach him under this identity.
However, many fans remain attached to the Papa Ajasco name and have expressed difficulty accepting the change.
Responding to the development, Wale Adenuga dismissed claims of the actor’s financial hardship. He stated that Abiodun Ayoyinka had received numerous benefits over the years, including cars, and was never restricted from pursuing other projects outside the show.
The split marks the end of a long-running association, as Abiodun Ayoyinka forges ahead with his new identity in the entertainment industry.
