Real Madrid will not be pursuing a move for Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate in 2026, according to The Athletic.
Konaté, 26, had been on the Spanish club’s long-term wishlist as part of their defensive plans. However, Real Madrid has now ended talks, putting an end to months of speculation.
The decision comes after Real Madrid already secured another Liverpool defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Meanwhile, Konaté is still in discussions with Liverpool over a contract extension. The club has made an offer, but the French international has not yet made a decision on his future at Anfield.
Konaté joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 and has been an important part of the team. The Reds are keen to keep him for the long term despite Real Madrid stepping away.
