Pop star and actor Selena Gomez has officially filed a motion to dismiss a $1.2 million fraud lawsuit brought by investors in her mental health platform, Wondermind.
The lawsuit, filed in Delaware by two investor groups, names Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and former co-founder Daniella Pierson, alleging securities fraud, common law fraud, and breach of contract. The plaintiffs claim they were misled about the company’s operational strength and promised that Gomez would actively market the brand using her global social media reach.

Gomez’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, slammed the complaint, describing the claims against the star as “completely meritless if not frivolous”. The court filing highlights that Gomez was never a member of Wondermind’s board, had no operational or managerial control over the business, and only held a minority stake and a consultant title. Rosengart noted that management was strictly handled by Teefey and Pierson, adding that Gomez’s legal team is exploring seeking sanctions against the plaintiffs for improperly dragging her into the dispute.
The legal pushback attempts to separate Gomez from the operational fallout surrounding Wondermind, which reportedly faced financial mismanagement and leadership turmoil before quietly collapsing. While Gomez moves to clear her name, the lawsuit continues against the company, Teefey, and Pierson. The controversy comes just as Gomez prepares for the upcoming promotional campaign for season six of her hit series Only Murders in the Building.
