Nigerian music executive, Soso Soberekon, has offered Peter Okoye of the defunct music duo Psquare N500 million to face his twin brother, Paul Okoye, in a celebrity boxing match.
Soberekon made the offer in a viral video where he was seen at a nightclub holding up his phone displaying a message offering Peter the huge sum to fight Paul.
The gesture reportedly happened while Peter was performing on stage at the event, attracting attention from fans amid the renewed tension between the two brothers.
The proposed boxing match comes against the backdrop of the long-running dispute between Peter and Paul Okoye, who have experienced multiple fallouts since the breakup of Psquare.
Psquare’s history of split and reconciliation
Peter and Paul Okoye rose to fame in the early 2000s as Psquare, becoming one of Africa’s most successful music groups with several hit songs and international recognition.
The duo first separated in 2017 following disagreements surrounding the management of the group and the involvement of their elder brother, Jude Okoye.
However, the brothers reconciled in 2021 and reunited for a comeback, including a headline concert in December of that year.
The reunion was short-lived, as Paul confirmed in 2024 that Psquare had split again, with fresh allegations and disagreements emerging between the siblings.
The latest dispute has involved claims over finances, music royalties, and past events surrounding the group’s management.
Peter had recently accused Paul and Jude of issues relating to the handling of Psquare’s music catalogue and finances, allegations that were denied by Jude.
Paul has since stated that he wants to distance himself from the ongoing family disagreement, while another of their brothers, Henry Okoye, blamed Jude for contributing to the long-standing rift.
