Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has officially left Arsenal after the club and player agreed to end his contract early.

The decision comes after Tomiyasu suffered another injury setback. He is expected to return to football later in 2025, but his time at Arsenal has now come to an end.

The 25-year-old joined Arsenal in 2021 from Italian side Bologna and quickly became known for his solid defending and versatility. However, a series of injuries limited his playing time in recent seasons.

Arsenal and Tomiyasu both agreed that parting ways was the best decision, and he will now become a free agent, meaning he can join another club for free once he recovers.

Tomiyasu made over 50 appearances for the Gunners and was part of the team during their return to Champions League football.

He is now expected to focus on his recovery before deciding on his next move.
