Social media influencer Sydney Towle, who inspired millions by documenting her battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, has died at the age of 26.
Towle’s family announced her death on Thursday, revealing that she passed away from complications related to cholangiocarcinoma, a rare bile duct cancer that had spread to other parts of her body.
Her brother Austin shared the news in a video message alongside their mother, saying Sydney died peacefully after almost three years of fighting the disease.
A digital legacy built on courage and hope
Towle gained a large following by openly sharing the realities of living with cancer, including chemotherapy, hospital visits and the emotional challenges that came with her diagnosis.
Rather than hiding her struggles, she used her platform to raise awareness about rare cancers and encourage people to advocate for their health.
With more than one million followers on TikTok and over 200,000 followers on Instagram, Towle’s story reached people around the world.
Despite her illness, she continued pursuing her dreams and recently fulfilled her ambition of modelling at Miami Swim Week, where she walked the runway for The Chemo Club x Post Swim show.
Her family said they would continue honouring her commitment to cancer awareness and self-advocacy.
