Media personality and actress Toke Makinwa has advised that women should avoid getting married in their 20s, arguing that young adults are still figuring out their identity and decision-making during that phase of life.
Speaking on a recent episode of her podcast, Toke Moments, Makinwa expressed that many women who settle down too early end up regretting the decision due to a lack of personal self-discovery.
“Women have no business getting married in their 20s… You don’t even know yourself yet. Those who did are regretting it now. Even those who are still married if they are being honest, they will tell you that they shouldn’t have rushed it.” Toke Makinwa said while speaking in a recent episode of her podcast.
Tacha weighs in on marriage dynamics
Guest starring on the episode, reality TV personality Tacha added her own perspective on the pressures and expectations surrounding relationships.
Reflecting on a common observation, Tacha shared a quote from her mother comparing marriage to a complex institution where “those inside want to get out, and those outside can’t wait to get in.”
