British YouTuber and rapper Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, will face a retrial in Australia on three counts of rape. Following a trial in Western Australia, a jury acquitted the 31-year-old social media personality of several sexual assault allegations but failed to reach a verdict on three rape charges.
Jury reaches partial verdict following hotel room allegations
Barrientos was originally charged with 10 offences stemming from a 2024 incident in Hillarys, a suburb of Perth, following a performance. The jury found him not guilty of three rape counts, one count of assault, and one count of strangulation. However, he was convicted on two counts of assault, with sentencing deferred until the conclusion of his rape retrial.
The prosecution alleged that Barrientos assaulted a then-20-year-old fan in his hotel room after inviting her back from the concert venue. While Barrientos maintained that the sexual encounter was entirely consensual, prosecutors argued he acted with entitlement, whereas defence counsel pointed to inconsistencies in the accuser’s testimony.
Barrientos is scheduled to appear in court on August 27 for a bail variation hearing, with a date for the retrial yet to be finalized.
