Arsenal have completed the signing of Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP in a deal worth around €73.5 million. The Swedish striker will wear the famous No. 14 shirt once worn by club legend Thierry Henry.

The 26-year-old is set to undergo a medical on Saturday and will join Mikel Arteta’s squad for their pre-season tour of Asia.

The No. 14 shirt is one of Arsenal’s most iconic numbers. Henry made it legendary during his record-breaking years at the club. Since his departure in 2007, players like Theo Walcott, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Eddie Nketiah have worn it.

Gyökeres arrives with an impressive record of 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting. Arteta believes he can provide the firepower Arsenal need to end their 20-year wait for a Premier League title.

“Once we finalise everything, we want him to integrate quickly,” Arteta said on Friday.

Fans will be eager to see if Gyökeres can live up to the history of the famous shirt.
