Lawyer representing Sophia Momodu have reportedly issued a formal N1 billion pre-action notice to Nigerian music star Davido, accusing him of harassment, threats, cyberbullying, intimidation and defamation linked to their ongoing child custody dispute.
According to the notice reportedly sent after a tense February 12, 2026 hearing at the High Court in Lagos Momodu’s legal team claims that Davido became verbally abusive and aggressive toward their counsel during proceedings, allegedly prompting court officials to intervene.
The notice further alleges that Davido used his social media reach to share a photo and identity details of Momodu’s lawyer, leading to a wave of threatening messages and abusive comments directed at her. It also claims he posted defamatory content accusing her of incompetence and tagged her publicly, which allegedly encouraged harassment from his followers.
Beyond targeting the lawyer, the legal team asserts that Davido wrongly exposed individuals he believed were relatives of their counsel to ridicule and online threats, harming their professional reputation, emotional wellbeing and personal safety.
In the pre-action notice, Momodu’s lawyers are demanding that Davido stop all public commentary about the case, publicly retract and apologise for all alleged defamatory statements, urge his fans and associates to cease harassment, and pay N1 billion in damages. They have given him seven days to comply, warning that failure to do so will result in formal legal action at the High Court of Lagos.
This development comes amid a long-running custody battle between Momodu and Davido over their daughter Imade, a legal dispute that has drawn significant public attention and frequent social media commentary from both sides.
