Human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has reacted to a recent video of Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries, where the pastor issued strong warnings to bloggers.
In the viral video, Pastor Ibiyeomie accused some bloggers of twisting his sermons and misrepresenting his words for personal gain. He warned that he would no longer tolerate such actions and threatened to arrest anyone who spreads false or negative stories about him.
Speaking firmly during a church service, the Port Harcourt-based pastor said he would no longer issue warnings. He mentioned a specific individual he claimed to know personally, stating he would take action regardless of whether their parents tried to intervene.
“You won’t make me popular. I’m already talking to the world. Don’t carry my news,” Ibiyeomie said. He also accused some members of his church of secretly recording and twisting his messages.
The pastor made it clear that he would use the police to arrest anyone who spreads false information about him, saying, “No man of God will pray for you and succeed if you lie against me.”
In response, Deji Adeyanju condemned the pastor’s threats and emphasized that public figures, including religious leaders, must be open to criticism and public scrutiny. He noted that no one should use their position to intimidate or silence others, especially using the police.
