Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has denied allegations that she illegally acquired a piece of land belonging to a widow’s late husband.
A viral video circulating online shows a widow and her daughter accusing Ozokwo of taking over their family land without their consent. They claim the land was sold to the actress by their uncle, even though they still have documents proving ownership.
In a statement released on Tuesday, June 3, Ozokwo explained that she legally purchased the land in 2010. She said the sale was handled by a real estate agent who was contacted by the supposed landowner at the time.
According to her, the issue only came up in 2024 when the previous owner allegedly tried to resell part of the land without her knowledge. Ozokwo said she responded by visiting the property and securing it with a fence.
The actress described the public accusations as blackmail and defamation. She expressed disappointment that some online platforms spread the video without verifying the facts and announced her intention to take legal action.
"I have chosen to handle this through the proper legal channels," she said. "To those involved, I say—see you in court."
Videos of both the widow’s accusations and Ozokwo’s response are still making rounds online.
