Friends and colleagues of American actor Eric Dane have set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to support his family following his death at age 53 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease he had publicly battled for months. Dane, best known for his roles on Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, passed away on February 19, 2026 after his illness rapidly worsened.

The campaign, titled “In Honor of Eric Dane,” was organised by a group identifying itself as the “Friends of the Dane Family” to help provide stability and financial support for his two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, and their future needs. Rory and his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, had stood by his side as he faced the disease.

Organisers noted that ALS progressed “far more quickly than anyone could have imagined,” prompting loved ones to rally around the family. The fundraiser had raised a significant portion of its $250,000 goal within hours, with donors including prominent figures from the entertainment industry.

In addition to honouring Dane’s legacy, the GoFundMe aims to help cover education, housing and other needs for his daughters during this difficult time, reflecting the outpouring of support friends and fans have shown since the announcement of his passing.
