The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced plans to prosecute popular TikToker and content creator, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, following a road traffic crash.

The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, made this known after a video showing Peller live-streaming while driving went viral online. The incident was said to have led to a crash.

In a statement issued on Monday by the FRSC spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide, Mohammed described the act as dangerous and against traffic laws.

He said using a phone to stream or create content while driving puts lives at risk and could lead to fatal accidents.

Mohammed warned that fame does not place anyone above the law and that celebrities must obey traffic rules like every other road user.

He added that distracted driving by influencers undermines efforts to reduce road crashes and deaths in the country.

Following the incident, the Corps Marshal directed the Lagos State Sector Commander to begin legal action against the TikToker.

He said Peller would be prosecuted for reckless driving, using a phone while driving, and distracted driving.

The FRSC boss also urged entertainers and influencer groups to caution their members and promote safe behaviour on Nigerian roads.

According to him, celebrities have strong influence on young people and should set good examples.

Mohammed warned that the FRSC will enforce the law strictly against anyone found driving recklessly, regardless of status.

He stressed that public roads are not meant for filming or live streaming and that no online content is worth a human life.
