Harry Kane scored two goals as Bayern Munich defeated Brazilian side Flamengo 4-2 to book a spot in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday.

The match, played at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, saw Bayern take an early lead and hold off a spirited fight from Flamengo, who had strong fan support in the stands.

Bayern’s first goal came just six minutes in when a corner from Joshua Kimmich led to an own goal by Flamengo defender Erick Pulgar, whose header went in off the post.

Four minutes later, Bayern doubled their lead. Defender Dayot Upamecano won the ball and passed it to Kane, whose shot deflected off a defender and ended up in the bottom corner.

Flamengo slowly grew into the game and created some good chances. Luiz Araujo tested goalkeeper Manuel Neuer twice before Gerson scored a stunning goal in the 33rd minute to make it 2-1.

However, Bayern struck again just before halftime. Araujo’s poor clearance went straight to Leon Goretzka, who calmly fired in a long-range shot to restore the two-goal cushion at 3-1.

Flamengo continued to fight in the second half. In the 55th minute, they were awarded a penalty after Michael Olise handled the ball in the box. Jorginho converted the spot-kick to make it 3-2.

Despite Flamengo’s energy and efforts, they struggled to finish their chances in the final third.

Bayern sealed the win in the 73rd minute. Konrad Laimer won possession in midfield, passed to Kimmich, who then set up Kane. The English striker made no mistake, slotting in his second goal of the match with a powerful finish.

With the win, Bayern will now face European champions Paris Saint-Germain in Atlanta on Saturday in the quarter-finals.
