Barcelona’s latest signing, Karim Adeyemi, has revealed that club legends Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho served as his primary footballing idols growing up, marking his official arrival at the Catalan club.
The 24-year-old winger expressed his delight during his formal unveiling on Thursday, where he put pen to paper on a long-term contract that will keep him at the Camp Nou until 2031.
“For me, it’s a unique opportunity. My role models and idols at Barça are Messi and also Ronaldinho, although there are many others.” Karim Adeyemi said.
Fresh start at Camp Nou
The German international makes the high-profile switch from Borussia Dortmund following a solid, if unspectacular, final campaign in Germany. During the previous season, Adeyemi recorded 10 goals and six assists across 39 appearances in all competitions.
Now making the step to La Liga, Adeyemi will look to emulate his footballing heroes and establish himself as a focal point in Barcelona’s attack for years to come.
