Popular gospel singer Taiwo Adegbodu dies

Nigerian gospel singer Taiwo Adegbodu, one half of the well-known gospel music duo the Adegbodu Twins, has died, sending shock and grief through the gospel music community and his many fans. 


The tragic news was shared on Sunday, March 1, 2026, when his twin brother and musical partner Kehinde Adegbodu announced Taiwo’s passing on the group’s official Facebook page, expressing deep sorrow and disbelief over the loss. 


Friends, fellow artistes and followers also took to social media to mourn the beloved gospel minister, with many remembering his contributions to Christian music and praying for his family and loved ones during this painful time. 


At the time of reporting, the cause of Taiwo Adegbodu’s death has not been publicly disclosed. 


Taiwo and Kehinde rose to prominence in the Yoruba gospel music scene after their 1999 debut album Faratimi (Lean on Me), and went on to build a legacy with spiritually uplifting songs that touched the lives of many.
