Award-winning Nollywood actor Ray Emodi has officially announced that he is stepping away from acting to fully pursue a career in music, revealing that the decision was influenced by personal, family and mental health considerations.
The actor made the revelation through a series of videos shared on his Instagram page, where he opened up about some of the intense and unsafe situations he encountered while filming movies across different parts of Nigeria.
According to Emodi, certain filming experiences exposed him to real danger, including moments when gunshots were reportedly heard close to movie locations while production continued despite the chaos nearby. These experiences, he explained, forced him to reassess his priorities and overall well-being.
He also disclosed that his family played a major role in his decision, noting that they hold strong values and expectations he feels obligated to respect. Emodi stated that continuing in certain environments within the film industry no longer aligned with those expectations.
Despite quitting acting, the movie star expressed gratitude to Nollywood and fans who supported his journey over the years. He revealed that he had already begun declining film roles recently as he gradually prepared for the transition.
Emodi assured fans that he is not disappearing from entertainment entirely but instead redirecting his creativity into music — a passion he says he has always loved. The actor confirmed he has already released musical projects and invited supporters to follow him on this new path.
His announcement comes nearly three years after he previously took a break from acting due to anxiety, making this latest move a significant turning point in his career.
