Lagos-based celebrity show promoter Samson Erinfolami Balogun, popularly known as Sam Larry, has been officially discharged from the hospital after surviving a fatal car crash that claimed the life of his bodyguard.
The serious accident occurred along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road when the vehicle conveying the socialite rammed into a trailer, leaving the car extensively damaged. While his bouncer tragically died at the scene, Sam Larry was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, prompting immediate panic and widespread speculation across social media platforms.
“Following the accident, a report of him being in a coma went viral on social media, with many Nigerians linking the accident to his alleged involvement in singer, Mohbad’s death, while some expressed concerns about his chance of survival,” public updates noted during his admission.
Sam Larry shuts down amputation and coma rumors online
The incident heavily reignited public debates regarding the controversial September 2023 passing of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad. As rumors quickly escalated online claiming that Sam Larry was in a permanent coma or had undergone leg amputations due to the severe impact, his associates actively moved to debunk the claims.
Shortly after his release, videos surfaced online showing the music promoter standing upright, celebrating, and lifting his legs alongside friends and Fuji musician Malaika to prove his mobility. Though he had previously stated from his hospital bed that he might require a wheelchair temporarily during his initial recovery, his public appearance confirmed he is ambulatory as he expressed deep gratitude for surviving the wreckage.
