New behind-the-scenes footage from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows the singer breaking down in tears after meeting survivors and families affected by the Southport stabbing attack.

Swift met privately with them in July 2024. The attack happened at a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop and claimed the lives of three young girls.

After the meeting, footage shows Swift crying in her dressing room as her mother, Andrea, tried to comfort her.
“I know it doesn’t seem like it, but I know you helped them,” Andrea told her.

Despite the emotional moment, Swift, already dressed for the show, later performed for more than three hours at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Speaking at the New York premiere of her new Disney+ documentary series, The End of an Era, Swift said she felt the need to “create some form of escape” for her fans after the incident.

She explained that performing can be mentally demanding: “I need to be able to handle all the feelings and then perk up and perform.”

The Wembley show was already a heavy moment for Swift, as it was her first performance after cancelling three shows in Vienna due to a security threat. She said the tour narrowly avoided a serious situation after authorities uncovered a plot targeting one of the concerts.

“Being afraid that something is going to happen to your fans is new,” she said.

The documentary also shows her relief after the final Wembley show. In a phone call to her fiancé, NFL player Travis Kelce, she says: “I was so happy — I thought I was going to forget how to play guitar and sing.”

The six-part Disney+ series, which premieres this weekend along with a concert film from the tour’s final night, captures key moments from the nearly two-year, 149-show global tour.

Before the New York screening, Swift said the entire experience felt like “a lifetime within my life,” filled with lessons learned over many years.
