US President Donald Trump was caught on camera making an obscene gesture toward a heckler during a visit to the Ford F-150 factory in Detroit, Michigan, according to a video circulating on social media.
Footage shows Trump on an elevated walkway overlooking the factory floor, dressed in a long black overcoat. After some shouting, the President appeared to point at the heckler, scowling and uttering words before raising his middle finger.
The heckler has not been identified. However, White House spokesman Steven Cheung told AFP that the individual “got what they deserved.”
“A lunatic was wildly screaming expletives in a complete fit of rage, and the President gave an appropriate and unambiguous response,” Cheung said.
According to TMZ, the heckler shouted phrases including “pedophile protector,” in reference to Trump’s ongoing controversies.
The 79-year-old Republican’s second term has been marked by calls to release files connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was once associated with Trump. Epstein died in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial for allegedly trafficking underage girls — a death officially ruled a suicide but widely discussed in conspiracy circles.
Trump had approved bipartisan legislation to release the files, but the Department of Justice has missed the December 19 deadline to make all documents public. Justice officials said earlier this month that over two million documents are still under review.
