Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated Ghana 2-1 on Tuesday to reach the final of the Unity Cup. The match was played at the Gtech Community Stadium in London.
Cyriel Dessers put Nigeria ahead in the 14th minute. The striker controlled a cross inside the box and fired a powerful shot past Ghana’s goalkeeper, Asare.
Just five minutes later, Nigeria doubled their lead. A free-kick into the box caused confusion, and Ghanaian defender Razak Simpson accidentally headed the ball into his own net, giving Nigeria a 2-0 lead.
Ghana responded in the 70th minute when Brandon Thomas-Asante scored from a low cross. He placed the ball past Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, to cut the deficit.
Despite late pressure from Ghana, Nigeria held on to their lead and secured the win.
The Super Eagles will now face Jamaica in the final on May 31.
