Boluwatife Balogun, popularly known as Chmapz, is a young Nigerian singer and the son of renowned afrobeats star Wizkid. Despite growing up in the shadow of his famous father, Tife is determined to make a name for himself in the music industry on his own terms.
In a recent interview with Glitch Africa, the 14-year-old artist opened up about his passion for music and the journey he is on.
Tife explained that he does not feel any pressure from his father’s success. Instead, he views his youth as an advantage, giving him plenty of time to grow and develop his talents.
He has been involved in music from a very young age, writing songs and creating beats, which shows his deep connection to the art. “My dad does music, I have friends that make music and a cousin that plays piano. I have been making beats and writing songs since I was young,” he shared.
He also emphasized that music is a natural part of his life and something he truly loves. Although he acknowledges that he still has a long way to go, Tife is proud of what he has already accomplished for his age. “There’s no pressure. I’m young. I mean, I’m 14. I still have a long way to go. I’ve done a lot for my age already. No pressure,” he said confidently. With such a strong foundation and clear passion, Tife is poised to build his own legacy in the music world.
