Arsenal kicked off their Premier League home campaign in style with a 5-0 win over Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium.
New signing Viktor Gyokeres scored twice, while defender Jurrien Timber also grabbed a brace. Bukayo Saka added the other goal.
Timber opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a header from Declan Rice’s corner. He then set up Saka to double the lead just before half-time.
Gyokeres, signed from Sporting Lisbon for £55m in July, netted his first Premier League goal three minutes into the second half. Timber made it 4-0 soon after, again from a corner.
Teenage debutant Max Dowman won a late penalty which Gyokeres converted to seal the rout.
The only setback for Arsenal was the loss of captain Martin Odegaard and winger Saka to injuries.
